It was on this property where Gruesome atrocities were committed to those who came before me. Their survival through the rape, disease, hate and humiliation is the reason why I am here today.

The energy was felt deeply at night, felt as if my ancestors had felt my presence here just as much as I felt theres. I wondered how the captains were able to sleep in stark contrast to how the captives slept.

Up to 800 men were held in these dungeons for up to 3 months without a restroom and with only one small window high towards the ceiling. Their souls still imprinted on the walls that encompassed them, their tears, and the sorrows they suffered at the hands of white men.

The captives who would rather die free than live in chains expressed their sentiment through revolt and rebellion. Once captured they were publicly punished and refrained to cells along the right side of this image here.

This image was an accident switching between modes on my camera. Fortuitously I was able to capture the silhouettes of the souls who haven't passed peacefully, and the fire they felt that has been evolved and inherited generations later.

Directly above slave dungeons were sanctuaries where Christian colonizers prayed for safe passages and gave thanks for their newly acquired property.

A vow that others might take lightly or for granted but one that will be forever engrained on my existence.
